Volunteer Information

BorderSenses is seeking volunteers, particularly those interested and involved in the arts. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone to become involved in a vehicle that we feel reaches out to a diverse population that cuts across ethnicities, genders and age groups. Volunteers would be able to assist variety of areas, including (but not limited to): Publicity, Clerical/Administrative work, Advertising, Grant Writing, BorderSenses Magazine, Readings, BorderSenses Writing Workshop, and the BorderSenses Emerging Writers' Contest.

Publicity

1. Design posters and flyers for BorderSenses events
2. Write press releases for BorderSenses events
3. Notify media about BorderSenses events
4. Arrange for interviews: television, radio, print

Reading Series

1. Contact venues for future BorderSenses readings
2. Contact authors for possible appearance
3. Organize and plan for reading
4. Publicize for reading

Clerical/Administrative Work

1. Maintain BorderSenses e-mail account
2. Respond to BorderSenses queries via e-mail
3. Database entry
4. Assist with ongoing projects

BorderSenses Writing Workshop

1. Assist Workshop Director with planning and implementation of workshop
2. Create and update workshop brochures and other documents

BorderSenses Magazine

1. Assist with layout/design of literary magazine
2. Proofread literary magazine
3. Send out acceptance/rejection letters
4. Assist as a reader for literary magazine

BorderSenses Emerging Writers' Contest

1. Document submissions: poetry and prose
2. Assist judges with contest
3. Notify winners
