Recording Session for BorderSenses Spoken Word Poetry CD for teens/young adults

Dear area high school students:
-You are invited to record your poetry at this special session if you have participated in a past BorderSenses workshop and/or event
-Location: Lower Valley Branch library
610 N. Yarbrough
(across from Bel Air High School)
-All work will need to be pre-approved by poetry the poetry instructors… please bring copies of your writing to the recording session.
-Also if you are under 18 years old a parent or guardian will need to sign a release form that we will provide at the recording session.

University of Texas at El Paso visit

Students in the Spoken Word poetry program will visit UTEP’s history department for a special workshop on the history of El Paso. They will also read their poetry to a reading/writing class and discuss their work with the class.

This free poetry writing workshop for young adults will provide an introduction to the power of the written and spoken word. Every person has something to say that is important and meaningful. We will emphasize the role and importance of poetry as a means of individual expression in our community and beyond. Participants will obtain tips for writing a new poem during the workshop.
