Submission Guidelines
ATTENTION: BorderSenses wishes to inform all those who are interested in submitting to be aware of changes in our procedures. BorderSenses will now accept and read submissions year round (from August through April), and without interruption. Works submitted may be considered for either our Fall or Spring editions. The web system will be unavailable for submission in May, June, and July to accommodate system updates. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@bordersenses.com. We thank everyone for their support.

General Guidelines
The mission of BorderSenses Literary Magazine is to provide a venue for
emerging and established writers and artists of the Southwest and the
U.S./Mexico border to share their words and images. BorderSenses Literary
Magazine seeks a diversity of voices and artists and welcomes creativity
of all genres and styles in English or Spanish. We ask you to strictly
follow the guidelines for submission as described below:
We publish writers and artists from the Southwest and U.S./Mexico
border only. This means currently living or a native of Texas, New Mexico,
Arizona, Nevada, and California, as well as those living in the states of
Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.
Please limit submissions (poetry, fiction, non-fiction) to only two
pieces per person. Any more than two submissions will be automatically
rejected. Help us do justice to your work!
BorderSenses only accepts web-based submissions. If you
have registered before please go to
Home page, login and submit. If you are new to the website you must
register with us before submitting. Writers/artists who wish to submit
their work must register on our website and provide all necessary
information. Contributors will have to register with bordersenses.com with
the following information:
• Contact information (name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail)
Please note: Your name as you post in your contact information
will be the name that appears in the byline and bio.
• 25-word professional bio (please adhere to 25 words or less; we
reserve the right to edit bios),
• a description of the submitter's connection to the Border Region,
• the work (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, drama, art).
Our system is set up so that if any fields are not filled in, the
submission will not go through. Works submitted that do not meet the
submission guidelines will not be accepted.
NOTE: Please visit us often and encourage others to sign our
mailing list. We'll keep you posted of all our activities.
Each month, we'll be selecting Featured Artists and showcasing
selective work for all our visitors. This will give the artist/ writer
visibility in the crowded art world. By submitting to us you agree to let
us display your work on our website if your work is chosen.
Please use browsers Internet Explorer 5.0 or Firefox 1.0.6
for optimum results. Other browser or machine info will be released as
they become available. Mac users please contact us at either email below

Prose and Poetry
- Submit work as an attachment as either a Microsoft Word, WordPerfect,
or Microsoft Works document.
- Prose should be no longer than 1500 words.
- Poetry should be no longer than 65 lines long.
Please adhere to these word/line counts.
Art and Photography
- Submit work as an attachment as either a .jpeg or .gif file.
- File size should not exceed 500k
- Resolution should be at around 150 dpi and 4 inches by 5 inches in
size.
- Artwork can have the artist's signature inside the work.

All contributors will receive a free copy and discounts for additional
copies. We’ll keep you posted on our progress! We’re delighted with the
